The Founder’s Story
JAHA began with a sentence we never forgot. We were standing at a swimwear booth at a trade show in Riyadh, searching for resort pieces that felt like us—something that resonated with our lifestyle and environment. The sales assistant looked at us, looked at the rack, and said simply: “Burkini is your garment need.”
We didn’t say anything in that moment, but a quiet shift happened between us. That sentence followed a standard market logic, reaching for the nearest generic category. But it failed to see us. It didn’t see the woman who travels to the Amalfi Coast and wants to feel entirely like she belongs. It didn’t see the woman sitting on a resort terrace in Mykonos, refusing to compromise between elegance and identity.
We are that woman, and we had never found a premium brand that was truly built for her. We are Johara and Hind. As two Saudi women, we built JAHA from lived experience, not from a distance. We knew exactly what was missing because we had been searching for it our entire lives. We believed that you do not need to be a designer by title to create something deeply meaningful; sometimes all it takes is a clear vision, unwavering consistency, and the courage to build the answer yourself. To bring this vision to life, JAHA meets Italy. We aligned the rich inspiration of the Saudi coast with the timeless heritage of Italian craftsmanship. Born in Italy, our collections are meticulously brought to life by master artisans using premium, high-performance microfibres and breathable cottons. We completely stripped away rigid, restrictive functional language, focusing instead on how each silhouette breathes, moves, and flows with the body in unhurried, deliberate ease. JAHA is named after a quality we want to carry into every thread we produce.
In Arabic, جاها speaks to a presence without performance. It defines a woman who does not need to announce herself to be felt in a room. At ease in her body, proud of her roots, and navigating her world with تحفظ—not as a restriction, but as the absolute grace of self-possession. It is also a soft reflection of Johara’s name, seamlessly uniting both of our journeys. JAHA was born from that single conversation in Riyadh. From a moment that reduced us to a category came the collective decision to craft our own world. Designed in Saudi Arabia, brought to life in Italy, and built for every sunlit coast in between.
